Sahaya is here to support and assist rail systems to achieve state-of-good-repair and minimize noise and vibration
Sahaya Consulting was established by Briony Croft and Mark Reimer with support from our parent company (Acoustic Studio). We assist our clients in optimizing their rail operations and maintenance for ride quality, noise and vibration and to improve the amenity of neighboring communities. Our scopes of work include root cause studies, peer reviews, data collection and analysis, mitigation recommendation and implementation reports, and support in reviewing performance of vehicle and track solutions.
Dr Briony Croft is a specialist in rail noise and vibration with 18 years’ experience consulting on projects in Europe, North America and Australasia. She studied mechanical engineering at the University of NSW, graduating to work as mechanical design engineer. Relocating to the UK, she worked as a staff researcher at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, supporting several collaborative European Union rail noise research projects. She was awarded her doctorate in 2009 for work in the field of railway contact mechanics exploring the development of rail roughness and corrugation. Since completing her PhD Briony has worked as a railway acoustic consultant in Australia and in Canada. Briony is currently based in Sydney, Australia, dividing her time between projects for Acoustic Studio and Sahaya Consulting.
Mark is a specialist in project management and wheel-rail interface projects with 12 years' experience consulting across North America in transportation and industrial projects. He studied civil engineering at the University of Manitoba with a focus on geotechnical engineering and worked briefly in this field before completing an MSc in transportation engineering. During this time he set up an AREMA student chapter and started a rail research program that continues today. Mark has experience in transportation policy and planning, data analysis and visualization for asset management, and has worked at rail transit systems across North America conducting root cause studies, developing maintenance plans and strategies, and creating cost-effective reporting methods to measure effectiveness of changes to maintenance regimes.
